Golden Beaches

Versilia

For its equipment, large spaces, pleasant climate, and well-equipped beach establishments with all the comforts, this coast is considered one of the best in Italy. The beaches of the Versilia Riviera have always been renowned throughout Europe, with large areas covered in fine golden sand, as well as scenic areas for walks along the coast. There is also an excellent system of bike paths.

Carrara Marble

Marble Quarries

Carrara is the most important center in the world for the extraction and processing of its famous white marble, which is highly prized and extracted from the nearby Apuan Alps. The golden age of quarry activities was initially due to the Comacine Masters, Nicola, and Giovanni Pisano, who used it for works throughout central Italy. During the Renaissance, Michelangelo used this marble for his sculptures, personally choosing the blocks to work on.

Cinque Terre

Sea, Sea, Sea

The Cinque Terre are a true landscape gem. The anthropization carried out by humans over the centuries perfectly blends respect for the environment and the preservation of biodiversity. The Cinque Terre National Park is unique in Italy, dedicated to the protection of an anthropized environment, particularly focusing on preserving the terraces and the dry stone walls that support them.

Lucca

Art and History

Lucca is famous for its historical monuments and for having an intact sixteenth-century city wall, making it one of the most important art cities in Italy. Officially of Roman origin, but on probable earlier settlements, Lucca maintained its autonomy as an independent state for many centuries until 1799 when the ancient Republic was abolished following the French conquest by Napoleonic troops.

Pisa

Not Just the Tower

According to a legend, Pisa was founded by Trojan refugees from the Greek city of Pisa, in the Peloponnese. Among the most important monuments of the city is the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Cathedral built between 1063 and 1118 in the Pisan Romanesque style and the famous Leaning Tower, now one of the most recognized Italian monuments in the world due to its characteristic tilt.
